Azerbaijani Social Protection Fund Allocates AZN 600mln to Pay Pensions and Benefits within Half-Year

Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 August / Trend corr. U.Ismayilova / State Social Protection Fund of Azerbaijan allocated AZN 603mln in January-June to pay pensions and benefits, and 97% of them accounted for payment of labor pensions, Salim Muslumov, the head of the Fund said at the meeting of Board dedicated to summary of the first half-year.

Income of the fund increased by 31.4% to AZN 637.8mln in the first half-year as compared to the same period of 2007. Income forecasts on non-budget organizations were carried out by 103.7% and on budget - by 90.1%.

Earnings on obligatory social insurance rose by 31.2% to AZN 390.8mln in this period and 60.6% of them comprise earnings from non-budget organizations..

According to Salimov, expenditures of the fund amounted to AZN 620.8mln during six months.

Number of pensioners rose by 24,000 people and made up 1.26mln in 2008. An average amount of pension made up AZN 77.5, which is by AZN 15.4 or 24.8% more than 2007.

In accordance with the presidential decree of 25 August, base part of labor pensions was increased from AZN 60 to AZN 75 in Azerbaijan.
