Construction of a new road will enable to cut  time and expenses for export operations, which are carried out through the Georgian territory and give an impetus to development of country' economy, the Transport Ministry said earlier.

"This road will be run via mountainous and forest areas and connect Guba, north of the country, and Shamakhi, northwest. This fact will stimulate development of this region, as well as will create conditions for development of tourism here," Panahov said.

For the time being no charges are set for traveling via this route , but development of tourism and increase of travelers in this region will bring dividends, he said.

The new 105.4km-long road will enable to shorten distance between Shamakhi and Guba by over 150km (this interval makes up 261 km). Twenty-four bridges with the total length of about 3,700 metres will be built within the frames of the project on construction of new highway. Building of three tunnels with the length of 3.6km is also planned, the Transport Ministry said earlier.
