Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 November / Trend corr. E.Ismayilov, N. Ismayilova/ "From January to October number of the signed labor contracts in the construction field exceeded 20,000 as compared to more than 6,200 in the same period of 2007," Nabi Shukurlu, the head of the Labor Inspection at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, said on 28 November.

"Frequent cases of signing labor contracts with employees in the construction field are a positive factor. However, it is not enough," Shukurlu stressed.

Compensation will be paid only in 50 fatal accidents of 59 ones, which have taken place since the beginning of 2008. Compensation is impossible in nine accidents because of absence of labor contracts, Shukurlu said.

"At present rules of technical security are not fully observed, whilst we have definite achievements as compared to 2007," Shukurlu said.

Inspections in the Azerbaijani construction field have begun to be activated after collapse of the 16-stored building in August 2007, which resulted in 25 people's loss. One reasons of collapse of the building was connected to violation of technical security rules, experts said.

The Labor Inspection at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is an organization, regularly examining labor conditions in production.
