Germany studies Kazakh President’s initiative to create single world monetary unit

The bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Germany are characterized through advancing dynamics, Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the opening of the Kazakh-German business forum, Ak-Ordi press-service reported.

Kazakhstan is interested in expansion of co-operation with the German business, in particular in manufacturing sector, machine-building, agriculture and food industry, the Kazakh President said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev met with German outstanding political figure, ex-chancellor Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the report says. The interlocutors discussed political and economic situation in the world.

The prospects of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting with the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany Horst Keller. Moreover, the Presidents exchanged opinions on variety of international problems.

Within the visit, working dinner was held between President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.

" Kazakhstan interestingly accepted the initiative of German leader on development of new regulations to regulate world economy and establishment of the World Economic Council under U.N. In its turn, German side carefully studies Kazakh President's initiative to create single world monetary unit," Ak-Ordi's press release says.

The culmination of the visit was opening of Year of Kazakhstan in Germany by Nursultan Nazarbayev. The agreement to hold it was reached during the state visit of Federal President H. Keller to Kazakhstan in September 2008.

Such an event was held by Kazakhstan outside CIS for the first time. Upon German leader's initiative, EU Strategy in Central Asia was worked out and is realized. Germany will render significant aid to Kazakhstan regarding chairmanship in OSCE in 2010. Mutual plans and tasks of both countries for prospects were reflected in Mutual Statement on Partnership for Future signed in Astana in September 2008.

Germany is named in the number of the biggest economic partners of Kazakhstan. Over 540 enterprises with German capital were established in the country. Total amount of German investments in Kazakh economy makes up $3.5 billion. World-famous concerns, such as Volkswagen, Siemens, Daimler, MAN, RWE, EADS, Bayer, BASF, BOSH, etc. operate in Kazakh market.
