Consumer goods sales increase in Azerbaijan

Consumer goods worth 939 million manat were sold in Azerbaijan in January 2009, or 10.3 percent more than during the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee said. 

Foodstuffs accounted for 620 million manat and non-food goods for 318 million manat.

The increase in foodstuffs and non-food goods totaled 10.4 percent and 11.2, respectively.

Consumers were offered paid services worth 310 million manat in January.

Roughly 81.4 percent of the services were provided by legal entities and 18.6 percent by physical persons. Approximately 15.4 percent of consumer goods were sold by legal entities and 43.8 by physical persons at fairs and markets.
