Azerbaijani milk plant to launch sooner than expected

The Azersun Holding plans to commission a new milk plant in the Kurdamir region in the first quarter of 2010, Azersun Holding President Abdolbari Goozal said. The plant was initially set to open in the first 6 months of 2010.

A total of 6 million manat has been invested in the project. The plant's capacity is 5 tons per hour.

"Construction of the plant is underway. We plan to commission it in the first three months of 2010," he said.

The new milk plant will create jobs as part of a regional socio-economic development program.

The Azersun Holding was founded in 1992. The company's staff exceeds 3,000 people. Azersun's sphere of activities includes tea and vegetable oil production and packing, construction, banking, insurance, manufacturing and cargo transportation.

On Feb. 11, the official exchange rate is 0.807 manat to $1.
