Greeces state competition watchdog fined Switzerlands Nestle SA nearly 30 million euros (38 million dollars) for abusing its leading position in the instant coffee market.

The state competition commission said the fine of 29.9 million euros is the second largest imposed on a company and said it will continue to fine the coffee maker 20,000 euros if it continues to dominate its position in the future.

The watchdog said it imposed the fine against the company for trying to unfairly oust other coffee producers in its deals with restaurants, supermarkets and distributors between 2002 and 2006.

Initial reports said Nestle has denied the claims that it wrongfully dominated the market, dpa reported.
