Turkmenistan’s President invited to Nabucco summit in Prague

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Feb. 13/ Trend E. Hasanov/ Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Mirek Topolanek invited Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to attend the upcoming summit in Prague due on May 17. The summit will be dedicated to the development of Nabucco gas pipeline project, official Turkemn source said. 

"The Turkmen President accepted the invitation with gratitude," he said.

On Feb. 13 Czech Prime Minister arrived in Ashgabat, capital of Turkmenistan, where he met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Czechia is presiding in the EU, of which office will be opened in Asgabat in near future. After "gas" conflict between Russia and Ukraine falling European nations into energy crisis, Brussel tries to accelerate launching construction of Nabucco gas pipeline to Europe.

"Held at EU's initiative, the forum's agenda will include developing wide trade-economic cooperation, creating modern Silk Way. It deals with the issue that this modern south route in comprehensive sense became a corridor for people, ideas, goods and knowledge," Topolanek said during the meeting.

"The European community is interested in stabile supplies of hydrocarbon raw materials which Turkmenistan has in multitude. Turkmenistan realizes a diversification policy to deliver its resources to the world markets," Czech Prime Minister said. The guest named working out of an effective international mechanism in this context as timely and actual initiative of Turkmen President to provide global energy security.

Confirming Turkmenistan's adherence to European vector with its policy, Berdimuhamedov said that country's energy potential allows realizing any international projects meeting interests of all participants.
He made reference to independent audit data of unique gas field in south-east of Turkmenistan of which resources enter five biggest underground world pantries.
