Turkmenistan-Germany inter-governmental commission will convene in Ashgabat on May 25. The German delegation is led by head of German Department of Foreign Affairs Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology Karl-Ernst Brauner, an official Turkmen source said.
Brauner is accompanied with representatives of large German companies who will hold meetings in major government agencies and participate in a joint business forum.
The business forum is expected to boost inter-governmental dialogue and fast developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU, Altin Asir nation television channel reported.
Basis for expansion of ties has been set by recently signed agreements. Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation with EU in the field of energy is the most important document which gave start to signing similar agreements with major energy companies, in particular, with the German RWE AG.
In addition, the Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU, ratified the European Parliament in April , 2009 was a good stimulus for European companies wishing to strengthen their position on the promising Turkmen market.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov's visit to Germany in November 2008 gave an impetus to relations of two countries. The president called on German businesses to learn about Turkmen market on the Turkmenistan-Germany economic forum.
"The Turkmen leader's meeting with representatives of business elite of Germany once again confirmed great interest and the mutual willingness of the parties to intensify cooperation and to define the areas further partnerships and build on a long-term and mutually beneficial basis," Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary reported.
