The Baku branch of Bank Melli Iran has postponed issuing own plastic cards, Deputy Director of the branch Anar Ibrahimov said on July 20.
"The bank has postponed introducing own local cards to August due to technical problems," Ibrahimov said.
Earlier, Bank Melli Iran planned to install own ATMs and POS-terminals in Azerbaijan and issue plastic cards to clients in late June and has carried out all the necessary to begin this process.
As the bank is the branch of the Iran National Bank, its activity is limited. Therefore, Bank Melli Iran cannot issue plastic cards to clients supporting international monetary systems MasterCard and Visa. The bank aims to offer local cards.
As of May 1, loan portfolio of Baku branch of Bank Melli Iran hits 6.26 million manat, deposit portfolio - 2.39 million manat. Assets of the bank hit 18.95 million manat, authorized capital - 10.1 million manat, joint capital - 11.481 million manat. Profit of the bank hits 163,970 manat for 5 months of 2009.
