Azerbaijani-Turkish Businessmen Union (ATIB) Secretary General Rashad Rasul together with representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and the State Customs Committee participated in a workshop on "Development of unified electronic window system in foreign economic activities", organized by the Asian Development Bank in Singapore as of CAREC program , ATIB announced on July 23.

During the workshop, consultants of the Asian Development (ADB) held a presentation of analysis into national programs on the development of "unified window", applied in Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia, as well as a program on regional "unified window" system within CAREC.

"Discussions at the workshop showed that more efficient "unified window" system on foreign economic activities is applied in Azerbaijan among other countries entering CAREC," the official statement said.

Opinion polls among ATIB members showed the efficiency of the application of such system in Azerbaijan. For instance, if earlier customs registration procedures for one truck took four hours, after the application of this system it is only three hours. Moreover, too many documents with the volume of 40 pages were required to register cargo before, but now only one document with two pages is needed. Expenses for cargo storage decreased significantly.

"ATIB supported the Azerbaijani government's actions to improve the "unified window" system and to expand its zone of application. The work should result in establishment of a unified electronic government," the official statement said.

"Unified window" system has been applied in the control passage places in Azerbaijan since Jan. 1, 2009.

ATIB was formed in April 2004. The union's members are 91 companies with the Azerbaijani and Turkish capital. ATIB members' authorized capital amounts to $800 million and investment in the Azerbaijani economy exceeds $3 billion.
