Inflation hits 0.4 percent in Kazakhstan

In October 2009, inflation reached 0.4 percent in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh statistics agency reported.

In October, the prices for paid services rose by 0.9 percent and non-food goods increased by 0.4 percent, the agency said.

According to the statistics agency, in October the price declines in the consumer market mainly observed on cereals by 0.4 percent, flour - one percent, fruits - 3.5 percent, fresh vegetables - 4.6 percent and potatoes - 10 percent.

The price increase was observed on sugar at 6.5 percent, raw milk - 3.4 percent, eggs - 3.1 percent, fish and seafood - 1.1 percent, tea - one percent, butter - 0.7 percent and bread - by 0.5 percent, the same source added.


According to the agency, petrol price increased by 0.7 percent, diesel fuel - 0.3 percent and building materials fell by 1.5 percent.

The price for education services, health care was increased by 0.9 percent, restaurants and hotels - 0.7 percent, culture and personal service - 0.5 percent and public transport decreased by 0.8 percent.

The rise of tariffs in the sphere of housing and communal services observed at the sewage at 3.1 percent, central heating - 3 percent, cold water - 2.3 percent, hot water- 1.7 percent and electricity - 0.3 percent, the statistics agency said.
