Nuts, dried fruit exports up 20%

Iran exported 87,347 tons of nuts and dried fruits valued at $671,801 in the first nine-month period ended December 21, 2009, up 20 percent compared to the same period the year before.

IRNA news agency quoted a report from Iranian Customs Administration that pistachio was the major exported item, accounting for 98 percent of the total weight of exported products.

Iran is the largest producer of pistachios in the world. Iranian pistachios are very delicious and are available in many varieties and flavors. Raisins, figs, dates, and barberries are the other major export-bound dried fruits of Iran.
