The Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance has announced results of top ten insurance companies' activity in January. About 88.37 percent of the total insurance charges and 68.98 percent of the total payments fall on their share. About 28 insurance companies and one reinsurance company operate in Azerbaijan.

Azal Sigorta headed ranking on amount of insurance fees last year. Azersigorta implemented the largest amount of payments (as in January 2009).
Total premiums of all companies operating in the country is 18.92 million manat, and payments for the period - 2.84 million manat. Total premiums increased by 0.15 percent per year (about 18.89 million manat in January 2009), the payments - for 5,28 percent (3,03 million manat).
The report of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance for January has not indicated the results of the only reinsurance company Az RE.
