Finance Minister: Shortages in payment of agriculture subsidies removed in Azerbaijan

Shortages in the payment of agriculture subsidies have been removed in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov said March 20.

"We faced some shortages because this is a new sphere of activities. They were mainly linked with wrong registration of lists," Sharifov said.

The financial monitoring service held studies, finally injecting changes in the subsidy payment rules.

"The changes concerned mainly the procedures, which establish applying special registration books to consolidate control system," Sharifov said.

The Finance Ministry has designed a range of actions to boost efficiency of this process, the minister said.

At present Azerbaijani grain producers are provided with subsidies in the amount of 40 manat per one hectare. Furthermore, 50-percent discount are granted for purchase of lubricants, fuel and mineral fertilizers.
