Almaty-Tehran direct flight opens

Almaty hosted the opening ceremony yesterday of the first-ever Tehran-Almaty-Tehran flight on Mahan Air, the Kazakh Transport and Communications Ministry told Trend.

Almaty hosted the opening ceremony yesterday of the first-ever Tehran-Almaty-Tehran flight on Mahan Air, the Kazakh Transport and Communications Ministry told Trend.

Mahan Air will fly the route on an Airbus-310 Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The aircraft has 196 seats and two classes, the ministry reported.

According to the ministry, the first flight departed from Tehran yesterday at (local time) 1:00 p.m. and arrived in Almaty at (local time) 6:00 p.m. The flight lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes.

"Almaty is Mahan Air's fifteenth international destination," the ministry said.

Mahan Air is Iran's designated carrier based at the Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport. It has been an IATA member since 2001.
