Kazakhstan will export over 500,000 tons of grain by late 2010, the Agriculture Ministry reported.

"Kazakhstan will be able to export 500,000 tons of grain," the ministry said. "Half a million is a big figure, which is based on our already signed agreements."

The ministry reported that the 500,000 tons will be distributed to Central Asia, China and Iran.

"We also included Azerbaijan in the Central Asian region," the ministry reported.

Earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister Umirzak Shukeyev said Kazakhstan will export 2-3 million tons of grain by the next harvest later this year.

According to the ministry, Kazakhstan has already completed its spring harvest. Grain crops were sown on roughly 316,000 fewer hectares than last year.
