Iran ranks 129th in Doing Business 2011

Iran ranked 129th this year in the global rating of countries by improving entrepreneurial conditions. The report was compiled by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation under the titled, "Doing Business 2011: Making a Difference for Entrepreneurs." The country ranked 131st in Doing Business 2010.

The research involved 183 countries.

In the ranking for receiving construction permits, Iran ranked 143rd with 17 procedures and a 322-day term. An individual only needs to pass nine procedures, which cost a total of 10.5 percent of the property cost to register property.

Iran's "starting a business" rating was 42nd. According to the report, eight days are needed to register a business through six procedures at a cost of four percent of the income per capita with the minimum capital 0.8 percent of income per capita.

In terms of receiving loans, the country ranked 89th. The Doing Business report states that Iran ranked 167th in terms of protecting investors, while the country held 103rd position in terms of tax payments. According to the report, Iran has introduced a system of websites for interested entrepreneurs.

In terms of ensuring contract execution, Azerbaijan ranked 49th with the term of ensuring contract execution at 505 days and 39 procedures. Iran has also introduced an e-management system to ease and accelerate ensuring contract execution.
