Volume of transactions via Azerbaijan's e-commerce platform revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3. The total number of transactions through the e-commerce platform in Azerbaijan today is more than 543,800, co-founder of Epoint startup Hasan Hasanov told Trend.

According to him, the average number of transactions is 65.15 manat ($38.2).

Hasanov added that the total number of registered customers is 1,415.

To note, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) has set a target for 2024 to increase the share of non-cash payments in card transactions to 60 percent from the level of 55.6 percent in 2023.

"The following are the goals of digital payment development for the year 2024: rising from 93 payments in 2023 to an average of 130 non-cash transactions per unit every year; boosting the proportion of nationwide payments made through instantaneous means to 5 percent," the information from the CBA emphasizes.

Moreover, the plan is to increase the share of non-cash payments in retail turnover to 25 percent by 2024. The share of digital banking in customer transfers from current accounts is also expected to reach 83 percent, compared to 79.6 percent in 2023.
