Depositary base of Azerbaijani banks ups by 17 percent

Depositary base of Azerbaijani banks grew by 14.7 percent in December and increased by 17 percent as of December 2009, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said.

Based on the CBA data, as of late December, total sum of bank deposits and deposits by legal and physical entities hit 5448.8 million manat compared to 4751 million manat as of late November and 4654.2 million manat as of early 2010. About 2653.4 million manat fell to manat and 2795.4 million manat to currency.

The deposits of physical entities grew by 5.6 percent in December, the deposits of legal entities by 28.5 percent. The deposits by individual clients increased by 29.7 percent as of late 2009. The deposits by corporate clients grew by 4.3 percent.

The deposits of physical entities totaled 3029 million manat by late December compared to 2868.4 million manat by late November and 2334.9 million manat by Jan.1,2010.

The deposits of legal entities totaled 2419 million manat by late December compared to 1882.6 million manat by late November and 2319.3 million manat by Jan.1,2010.

The official exchange rate is 0.7966 manat to $1 Jan. 31.
