Major cement producers increase prices for products in Georgia.

"Tbiltsement, which produces concrete and cement, due to rise in prices for energy increases the price of one ton of cement by 10 lari ($ 1 = 1.77 lari).

According to the "Rustavi 2" TV, concrete will cost 140 lari instead of 130 lari.

From today the company Heidelberg Cement also increased the price for concrete. "The cost of one cubic meter of concrete is 140 lari, which is 5 lari more than the previous price. But the "Heidelberg Cement" says that despite this, demand remains high.

Price rise is also discussed by reinforcement producers. According to them, within two months the price of products has grown significantly and there is a real threat that this trend will remain.

According to the "Georgian Steel" Company Commercial Director Juga Sikharulidze, in recent months a ton of reinforcement increased by $70 and today the price hits $760-$780.

Regarding to imported reinforcement, its price rose even more. For example, Ukrainian reinforcement in Georgia is worth $870-$880, but even great price increase is expected from February.

In parallel with price hike in reinforcement, development companies predict a rise in the prices of building area. A price increase in reinforcement, cement, and fuel has significant impact on prices in the construction sector.

Presumably, price of new building area will increase by 10 percent.
