Iran's Electric Power Industry revenue hits $4 billion

Iran 's Electric Power Industry revenues from export of electricity, electrical engineering and technical services increased by $1 billion to $4 billion this year (that started March 21, 2010) compared to the previous year (ended March 20, 2010), Dolat.Ir reported quoting Iranian Deputy Energy Minister Mohammad Behzad as saying.

According to Behzad, Iran's electricity export to the neighboring countries amounted to $600 million during this year.

Iran exported roughly 6,468 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity to its neighboring states from the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year Iranian Ministry of Energy reported.
The amount shows 7.7 percent increase compared to previous year's amount.

Iran also increased its electricity imports from pervious year's figure of 2,002 GWh to 3,171 GWh during the mentioned time span.

The figure shows a 58.39 percent increase in Iran's electricity imports.
Iran's electricity network had integrated into the power grids of seven neighboring countries.

Earlier, Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou said Russia, India, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Syria and Oman are the new countries demanding electricity from Iran.

According to the minister, Iran has the capability to turn into a regional exporter of electricity.
