Azerbaijan and the European Union actively cooperate in all areas, the head of the EU representation in Azerbaijan Roland Kobia said.

"I think that the EU and Azerbaijan cooperate successfully in all areas, not just in traditional areas," Kobia told media at the presentation of the "Support to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes in creating e-audit" twinning project.

He said that the EU and Azerbaijan work to expand the cooperation. It may benefit Azerbaijan and its citizens. This project will also contribute not only to the development of the tax system of Azerbaijan but also to the development of Azerbaijan's attractiveness for business.

"The project was initiated by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes and personally by Minister of Taxes Fazil Mammadov," Kobia said.

He said that the EU is committed to supporting this project by its funding and technical support with the participation of EU member-state - the Netherlands.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes always actively supports the reforms not only in terms of taxation, but also in collecting taxes, especially on e-audit system, which is planned to be reformed, he said.

"I think that it is of great importance for Azerbaijan," he said.

The project is funded by the European Commission. The contract is worth 1 million euros. The project has six components - preparing legal base, necessary to implement an electronic audit, choosing the necessary software, creating a database for electronic auditing, preparing methodology and training for auditors, introducing e-practice of accounting applied by medium and large enterprises, electronic auditing in Azerbaijan.

Each component will be implemented by attracting international experts.
