Azerbaijan's flour import increases by 75 times in January-April

In January-April 2011, Azerbaijan imported grain to the amount of $118.996 million, or 63.82 percent more compared to the same period of 2010. The figure amounted to 4.38 percent of the total import, the State Customs Committee reported.

In January-April 2011, the import of flour increased by 74.22 times up to $23.069 million. The figure amounted to 0.85 percent of total imports during the reported period.

In total, the country imported products to the amount of $384.6 million (increased by 35.45 percent per year). The figure amounted to 14.16 percent of total import.

The import of products in the first four months included sugar to the amount of $49.18 million (increased by 4.27 percent; 1.81 percent of total import), butter to the amount of $47.826 million (increased by 6.98 percent; 1.76 percent of total import), meat to the amount of $6.906 million (increased by 28.63 percent; 0.25 percent of total import), and milk to the amount of $2.901 million (increased by 26.09 percent; 0.11 percent of total import).
The import of machinery, mechanisms, equipment, electrical devices and their spare parts during this period hit 29.65 percent of Azerbaijan's import. In January-April, the country imported machinery and equipment to the amount of $805.54 million, or 67 percent more compared to the same period of last year.

Besides, the country imported transport vehicles and spare parts to the amount of $494.883 million (increased by 2.42 percent; 18.21 percent of total import); ferrous metals and items to the amount of $341.762 million (increased by 91.84 times, 12.58 percent of total import); timber and its items to the amount of $78.785 million (increased by 66.87 percent; 2.9 percent of total import); goods of everyday use to the amount of $16.195 million (increased by 18.66 percent; 0.6 percent of total import); furniture to the amount of $16.331 million (increased by 23.6 percent; 0.6 percent of total import), and pharmaceuticals to the amount of $45.936 million (increased by 15.56 percent; 1.69 percent of total imports).

In January-April 2011, the value of Azerbaijan's import was $2.717 billion, or 54.12 percent more compared to 2010.
The export operations hit $8.004 billion or 30.59 percent more compared to 2010.
The foreign trade turnover reached to $10.721 billion, or 32.84 percent more compared to last year.

Black ink of foreign trade turnover hit $5.287 billion.
