The Baku-Boyuk Kesik railway modernization and reconstruction project was approved to be presented at the second investment forum of the TRACECA transport corridor, TRACECA national secretary from Azerbaijan Akif Mustafayev said.

He said that more than 30 projects were presented at the forum, of which 12 were approved.

The forum will be held in late 2011 and early 2012.
The project is provided within the program for railway development in Azerbaijan by 2014. It involves the reconstruction of this site. It will increase the train speed from 60-70 kilometers per hour to 120 kilometers per hour.

Mustafayev considers it appropriate to develop high-speed rail lines in Azerbaijan. It will reduce the time of passenger transportation.

"These projects are expensive, but they will be urgent in the future," Mustafayev said.
