Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, July 26 / Trend, H. Hasanov /

The governments of Turkmenistan and Indonesia are negotiating to organize joint business forums to discuss cooperation in trade, construction and tourism, the Altyn Asyr national television channel reported on Tuesday.

An Indonesian delegation was received at the TurkmeChamber of Commerce and Industry and Foreign Ministry.

Indonesian Embassy Charge d'Affaires in Turkmenistan Aji Setiavana "voiced a proposal to organize and conduct joint business forums and exhibitions to demonstrate the achievements of both countries' economies in the context for th efurther development of trade and economic relations."

Participants of the meetings also expressed their mutual interest in holding regular consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries.

The report says that members of the Indonesian delegation expressed particular interest in the project of creating "Avaza" resort on the Caspian Sea coast.

Indonesia has a long-standing interest in the Turkmen market. In mid-1990s, Indonesia Petroleum Ltd (INPEX) acquired the shares in gas pipeline consortium in the project of construction of a pipeline from Turkmenistan to Pakistan. But because of instability in the transit territory - Afghanistan - it was suspended.

In recent years, Ashgabat and Islamabad revived the project. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has financed its feasibility, and India joined the project as an interested buyer of Turkmen gas, which added the chances for implementation of the transnational project.
