Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov asked about the construction operations of the potash fertilizers mining and processing complex in the settlement of Garlyk, Lebap region, Turkmen media said.
"The President called for to keep quality of operations under strict control," Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said.
The enterprise has been constructing an open joint stock company "Belgorkhimprom" (Belarus) since August 2009. Its capacity is 1.4 million tons of fertilizers a year.
This enterprise will fill up the industrial infrastructure of the right bank of the Amu Darya. It is expected to further strengthen the economic power of the state, local media reported.
According to the project, a mine will be built to develop the potash ore deposits in Garlyk field. The finished products will be transported by rail and road.
While discussing the current issues with the Lebap region administration, President Berdimuhamedov stressed that it is necessary to increase the pace of operations to create a transport infrastructure, to build gas pipelines and power lines that are important for further development the region, Altyn Asyr national TV channel reported.
