Uzbek insurers increases premiums by 38 percent

Uzbek insurance companies increased premium collections by 38.2 percent in January-September to 165.7 billion soums compared to the same period last year, a government source told Trend.

Uzbek insurance companies increased premium collections by 38.2 percent in January-September to 165.7 billion soums compared to the same period last year, a government source told Trend.

The premiums collected on voluntary types of insurance increased by 38.8 percent - up to 118.3 billion soums (71.4 percent of total premiums collected); compulsory insurance increased by 36.7 percent, up to 47.5 billion soums (28.6 percent).

The total amount of insurance payments made in January-September 2011 increased by 2 percent - up to 37.1 billion soums.

The country has about 37 insurers operating in the sphere of general insurance, two companies in life insurance, one in reinsurance, 34 insurers in general insurance, three insurance brokers, two actuarial organizations, four companies specializing in insurance assistance, and four adjust and survey organizations.

The Uzbek insurers collected premiums of 20 percent, up to 175 billion soums in 2010 compared to 2009. The total amount of insurance premiums increased by 33.2 percent - up to 27.6 billion soums.

The official exchange rate is 1757.83 soums to $1 on Oct.19.
