Uzbekistan increases salaries and pensions

The salaries and pensions were increased at an average of 10 per cent in Uzbekistan from December 1 in accordance with Uzbek President Islam Karimov’s decree, signed in early November.

The salaries and pensions were increased at an average of 10 per cent in Uzbekistan from December 1 in accordance with Uzbek President Islam Karimov's decree, signed in early November.

According to the presidential decree, the minimum amount of wages and the initial (zero) level at a single tariff are set at 62,920 soums per month. The minimum retirement pension and benefits to the people disabled from childhood - 123,060 sums, benefits for the elderly and disabled citizens who do not have the required work experience - 75,510 soums per month.

Earlier, wages, pensions, scholarships and social allowances were increased at an average of 15 percent in Uzbekistan on August 1, 2011.

Then the minimum wage was set at 57,200 soums per month, benefits for elderly and disabled citizens who do not have the required work experience - 68,645 soums per month.

The official exchange rate is 1780,22 soums per $1.
