Georgia and Azerbaijan become important bridge between Europe and Asia

Together, Georgia and Azerbaijan jointly create a regional centre for a transport corridor between Asia and Europe, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said after a meeting of the Georgian-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission on Tuesday.

Together, Georgia and Azerbaijan jointly create a regional centre for a transport corridor between Asia and Europe, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said after a meeting of the Georgian-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission on Tuesday.

"Our countries are becoming a hub of oil and gas with railways, connecting Asia and Europe and it is contributing to our development," he said.

Mr Gilauri once again stressed that Georgia and Azerbaijan have very good relations. "It is especially evident in regional projects being implemented by us to improve the social standards for our people," he said.

The Georgian prime minister stressed that relations between the two countries is not limited to joint projects.

"We are very pleased that Azerbaijani investments in Georgia, as well as the tourist flow are increasing," he said.

Following the meeting, a protocol was signed.
