Automobile industry developing dynamically in Kazakhstan

The automobile industry in Kazakhstan is a rapidly growing industry, which had a record annual production growth, Industry and New Technology Minister Asset Issekeshev said at a meeting today. The ministry noted that the Asia-Auto Company was an example. The production reached 7,000 cars in 2011. The production plan for 2012 amounted to 19,000 cars.

Issekeshev expressed confidence that domestic producers are able to fully meet government vehicle needs.

Asia-Auto delivered 1,400 cars for the needs of government agencies and national companies in 2011, Issekeshev added.

The construction of the plant with capacity of 120,000 cars per year at Ust-Kamenogorsk was also discussed at the meeting. It is a joint project of JSC Asia-Auto and JSC AvtoVAZ (alliance Renault-Nissan), which is implemented by order of the President.

The preparation of technical and financial feasibility on this project is being implemented at the moment. The project will be tabled at the meeting of the State Commission on the modernization of the economy under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan at the end of the first quarter of this year. An industrial zone for automotive component production is expected to open near the new plant in accordance with the project.
