Tajikistan, Iran study Ayni HPP possible construction

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met with a delegation headed by Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Friday, Avesta.tj reported.

After the meeting with President Rahmon, Salehi said the discussions on the development of bilateral cooperation were constructive.

"I am optimistic about the development of bilateral cooperation, especially in economic sphere. We successfully carry out construction of the Sangtuda-2 Hydropower Plant (HPP)," Salehi stressed.

Salehi said the second phase of Sangtuda-2 HPP will be put into operation in the near future.

Salehi also added that the sides studied possible construction of Ayni HPP with capacity of 240 megawatts.

He added that the specialists from the two countries are studying financial sustainability and efficiency of the project.
