Kazakhstan continues to actively work to promote Astana's application to hold international exhibition EXPO-2017, Kazakh Foreign Ministry's international information committee said on Saturday.

A Kazakh delegation headed by the Foreign Ministry Senior Secretary, the national coordinator of EXPO-2017 project Rapil Zhoshybayev paid a working visit to Sweden, Denmark and Finland on March 19-23. The main purpose of the visit was to promote Kazakhstan's application for hosting international exhibition EXPO in Astana in 2017.

During the meetings Zhoshybayev presented President Nursultan Nazarbayev's message addressed to these countries' leadership, regarding support for Astana's candidacy to host the EXPO Exhibition in 2017.

The decision on the host country of EXPO-2017 will be made by voting of 160 member countries of the International Exhibitions Bureau in late November 2012.

Also during the visit the Kazakh delegation held talks with several officials from Sweden, Denmark and Finland, during which the topical aspects of bilateral political, trade and economic relations were discussed and agreements were reached on the development of bilateral cooperation.
