In the first half of May, 500 new London Taxis will be ready for operation in Baku, Baku Taxi Company head Ilgar Gasimov told Trend on Monday.
He said 500 new cars are already in Baku and will soon be provided with the necessary equipment.
"After equipping cars with all the necessary they will be ready for use," Gasimov said.
To provide quality services the drivers of new cars have passed special courses.
At present, the number of London Taxi TX4cars, working in Baku, is 500 units. The installation of universal POS-terminals in 500 Baku London taxis is close to completion, Gasimov said. It will be possible to pay using magnetic, chip and touch type plastic cards through the new terminals.
"Most of the cars are already equipped with POS-terminals and by the end of the week the process will be completely finished," Gasimov stressed.
For the development of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry's program to replace the taxi park in Baku with London Taxi TX4 cars a new private company Baku Taxi Company was created.
Agreement to supply these taxis was signed with Shanghai LTI at a total cost of $27 million.
