The Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transport will fund the conclusion of a contract with Dearsan Gemi Insaat San and A.S. Gulhan Den. Tic.Ltd.Sti., (Turkey) to assemble a 320-passenger local, high speed vessel and its purchase in the Turkmenbashi international sea port.
The corresponding decree was signed by President Berdimuhamedov to develop the transport industry of the country, to fulfil a general plan of development of Turkmenbashi international seaport and Turkmen merchant marine fleet until 2020.
A large scale reconstruction of the sea port having international status, is being prepared in Turkmenbashi. The experience of free economic zones in the UAE, Singapore and Hong Kong is being studied. Moreover the Avaza resort is being created on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea. It was announced by the authorities as the free economic zone.
