AS from August 1, Uzbekistan will prohibit foreign motor carriers from entering the country without proper authorisation, a source in government circles told Trend on Monday, with reference to the relevant decision of the government.
The source said that according to the government's decision, as from August 1, entry and transit of international vehicles in Uzbekistan is carried out only in the presence and by special permission of the authorised state bodies of the republic. Prior to the August 1, 2012 entry and transit through the territory of Uzbekistan for foreign motor carriers will be carried out under the current scheme with payment of an entry fee.
Previously a permit to travel was issued directly on the border, but now it's necessary to obtain prior permission at the relevant state institutions of the country.
To obtain the appropriate permissions, foreign transport companies must apply in advance to the Agency for Automobile and River Transport of the Republic.
Consideration of applications and issuance of permits forms will be in accordance with the national legislation of Uzbekistan and bilateral agreements.
As previously reported, from July 1, 2011 the entry fee and transit from foreign truck vehicles and buses crossing the border of Uzbekistan with Tajikistan is set at $265 for truck vehicles and buses of Tajikistan is $118.
For motor vehicles of Turkmenistan, going to Tajikistan, the rate for trucks with a carrying capacity of up to 10 tons and buses less than 12 seats is $35, trucks with carrying capacity of 10 tons and above and buses of 12 seats or more at $55.
The payment of additional fees for entry and transit from every foreign vehicle is in hard currency directly at the customs posts at checkpoints on the Uzbek-Tajik State border with transfer of funds received through the branches of Uzbek commercial banks to the account of the Republican Road Fund under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic.
An additional fee does not apply to vehicles of foreign countries with which Uzbekistan has concluded international agreements providing for non-use in relation of these vehicles of charges and fees for the use of roads.
