Date of second round of negotiations on accession of Azerbaijan to WTO defined

Next, the 10th round of multilateral negotiations on Azerbaijan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) will be held in Geneva on July 23-27.

It was told Trend in the government.

"In the frame of the meeting with the WTO working group it is also planned to hold consultation with the WTO Working Group and bilateral negotiations with the organization's member states," the government said.

The source noted that bilateral talks with the United States and Canada confirmed today. "However, this list may expand to the consultation" the government said.

Bilateral talks were held with the U.S., EU, Norway, Canada, Ecuador and Japan. The Azerbaijani delegation also held meetings with several officials of the WTO and UN experts during the visit to Geneva.

Negotiations with Turkey, the Sultanate of Oman, United Arab Emirates, Georgia have been completed and protocols were signed. The country is in the process of signing the protocol with Moldova, which still considers the document.

Within the talks Azerbaijan continues working on adjusting national legislative base in accordance with the WTO requirements as well as on improving current trade regime. About 40-50 legislative acts should meet requirements of the organizations and 30 of them have already been unified and work in this direction will continue this year.

The working group on Azerbaijan to the WTO was established on July 16, 1997.

Azerbaijan has been represented at the World Trade Organisation as an observer since 1997
