Progress of construction of synthetic liquid fuel plant discussed in Uzbekistan

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and President of the group of companies Sasol (South Africa) David Constable discussed the implementation of the project to build a plant of synthetic liquid fuels GTL in Kashkadarya region (southern Uzbekistan) during the meeting, National Information Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA) said on Tuesday.

President Karimov said Uzbekistan highly evaluates the ​​cooperation with Sasol within this project. The most advanced technology to produce innovative products with high added value on the basis of deep processing of natural gas resources will be introduced at the plant, which has no analogues on the Eurasian continent.

Islam Karimov expressed his support for the successful implementation of the project "GTL", noting the importance of the project for the development of energy sector of Uzbekistan and demonstration of the potential of the republic in the application of advanced technologies.

Head of Sasol expressed his gratitude for the support of the joint project and assured that the company will make every effort to ensure the effective implementation of the project.

A ceremony of external infrastructure construction of GTL plant in Kashkadarya began on Monday.

According to preliminary data, the cost of the plant will be about $4 billion from the planned nominal production capacity of 38,000 barrels per day (1.5 million tons per year) of synthetic liquid fuels from natural gas.

The project is implemented with the participation of the National Holding Company Uzbekneftegaz, Sasol and Malaysian Petronas.

An annual processing capacity of the plant will be 3.5 billion cubic meters and annual production 860,000 tons of diesel fuel, 360,000 tones of jet fuel, 390,000 tons of naphtha and 11,000 tons of liquefied gas. It is planned to produce goods worth $ 1.5 billion per year.
