The U.S. dollar was sold at 21,300 rials on Iran's unofficial market on Thursday, compared to 21,130 rials on Wednesday, the Mehr News Agency reported.

The Pound and Euro were also traded at 33,500 rials and 26,250 rials respectively, compared to 33,500 rials and 26,150 on Wednesday.

Each ounce of gold was sold at 1604 dollars on international markets, compared to 1596 dollars the previous day.

Iran's central bank allowed trading in its currency at market levels after fixing the exchange rate in January as the threat of sanctions over the country's nuclear programme and economic risks spurred Iranians to buy up dollars.
The bank on January 26 fixed the rate at 12,260 after the U.S. dollar surged to almost double that level on the unofficial currency markets.
