Greater Baku Development Plan concept to be adopted in November

The Greater Baku Development Plan concept to run until 2030 will be adopted in November, head of the Azerbaijani department of International Relations and Information of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Jahangir Hojayev told the media today.
"The concept has already been prepared," he said. "It is being agreed with the relevant agencies. It will be agreed at the end of October or early November."
He added that the work on the plan will be completed by the middle of next year.
The project is being prepared in conjunction with consultants from the U.S. on economic development (Kay Miller), Italy - urban planning (Angelo de Urso), Baki Dovlet Layihe Institutu project institute and Spanish consultants on ecology (Eptisa company).
The main task is to create an effective system of management of urban development of Greater Baku and on its basis all the other cities and towns of Azerbaijan.
Greater Baku will include Baku and 11 surrounding areas, as well as Sumgayit and the Absheron region, together with Khirdalan, its total area is nearly 250,000 hectares.
