Held against a backdrop of rising interest in sports development in Azerbaijan and major investment in sports infrastructure, SportExpo Azerbaijan 2012, the International Exhibition of Sport, Sports Equipment and Sportswear, will take place on 28 November for the first time in Azerbaijan, Iteca Caspian LLC said in its press release on Tuesday.

The declaration of 2012 as the 'Year of Sport' in Azerbaijan, the high achievements of the country's sportsmen and women at the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the active support in organising the exhibition from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Youth and Sport all underline the relevance of the event.

The exhibition will bring together 50 representatives of sport and the sports industry such as Azerbaijani sports clubs and federations, domestic and international producers of sporting goods and services, and public organisations. SportExpo Azerbaijan will present advanced solutions for fitting out sports facilities using producers and suppliers of sportswear, sports equipment and training equipment. Various federations of Azerbaijan's popular sports will occupy a large amount of exhibition space, including boxing, football, taekwondo, judo, golf, mountain climbing, trapshooting, table tennis, sailing and swimming. Azerbaijan's Olympic and Paralympic Committees will play an active part in the exhibition.

Youth Fair 2012, the 4th Republican Exhibition of Youth Organisations, will take place alongside SportExpo Azerbaijan 2012. Held as part of the Youth of Azerbaijan 2011-2015 state programme, which confirms its importance, and featuring participation from 76 of the country's youth organisations, the Youth Fair aims to keep society informed of the activity of youth organisations and the projects and events held by them, as well as encouraging young people to take part in community activities. The Youth Fair is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan together with Iteca Caspian.

In this way, the achievements of sports and youth organisations will be presented at one exhibition at one time - making the event as effective as possible for exhibitors and as convenient as possible for visitors. For companies and commercial organisations looking to develop Azerbaijan's sports industry, the exhibition offers an exclusive opportunity to become more familiar with the activities of sports clubs and federations with the aim of sponsoring teams, clubs or federations - an excellent marketing tool for company image and business development.

In recent times, Azerbaijan has been a venue for international sporting events with increasing regularity - in 2012, Baku hosted the meeting of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committee, as well as championships, various seminars, conferences, and world championships such as the Women's Under-17 Football World Cup, showing that sport and the sports industry are developing at a fast pace in the country. The dates for SportExpo Azerbaijan have been specifically chosen to fully show how the sports industry has changed, and also to announce the results achieved by sports federations in international competition and by various sports organisations led by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The organisers hope that the exhibition can help promote sport in Azerbaijan, rapidly develop sports infrastructure and grow the private sector in sport. The exhibition aims to be an effective platform for learning about the results of Azerbaijan's sports sector in a wide range of areas.

SportExpo Azerbaijan 2012 is organised by Iteca Caspian and its partner ITE Group. The international partners of 2012 exhibitions and conferences are Nar Mobile (Communications Partner), AZAL (Official Airline), Hilton Baku and Hotel Qafqaz Point (Official Hotels) and Greenwich Travel Club (Official Tour Operator). The exhibition will be open until 30 November.
