The Central Bank of Turkmenistan is considering allocation of credit to finance the construction of a sturgeon breeding plant in the Caspian Sea with further processing and caviar obtaining, Turkmen government informed on Tuesday.

This issue was discussed at the government meeting.

As mentioned in the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov" expressed satisfaction with the work undertaken and approved the proposals in this regard."

A fishery development program until 2030 is being implemented in Turkmenistan since 2011. Prior to its adoption, the industry was lagging. As noted at the highest level, lack of liaison between fish farms and processors and their distance from each other were hindering achievement of the best performance.

According to the program, fisheries are to be modernized and the modern infrastructure is to be created. At this stage, the leading positions are held by the state-run "Balkanbalyk" involved in fish harvest in the Caspian Sea as well as processing of fishery products.
Turkmenistan, along with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Iran borders the Caspian Sea abounding in biological resources.
