Winner of Georgian Parliament building reconstruction bid announced

"Vernitsky & Company" will reconstruct the parliament building located on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi, information posted on the website of the Georgian Procurement Agency said today.

According to the information, the company won the bid which was announced on December 12th.

"The bid from "Vernitsky & Company" meets our requirements," deputy chairman of the bid committee, a letter to the company from Zurab Marakvelidze said.

Reconstruction will be financed by the state budget. At the first phase, some 8 million Lari ($1=1.66 Lari) will be allocated.

The Parliament is going to move to Tbilisi in 2013. The parliamentary majority said that MPs must get two-thirds of all votes.

The Georgian parliament is currently seated in the second-largest city - Kutaisi.
