Uzbekistan to increase tax on petrol consumption in 2013

The tax rate from physical entities for consumption of petrol, diesel fuel and gas for vehicles will increase by 40 soums - from current 200 soums up to 240 soums per liter of fuel in Uzbekistan from January 1, 2013.

The new rates were approved by the Uzbek president's decree on "Forecast of main macroeconomic indices and parameters of the Uzbek state budget for 2013".

The tax from physical entities for consumption of petrol, diesel fuel for vehicles is included in the retail prices, which leads to an automatic increase in the petrol price.

The retail prices on AI-80 petrol will hit 1,645 soums per liter from January 1 compared to 1,605 soums earlier, AI-91 petrol - 1,810 soums (1,770 soums), AI- 95 - 1,995 soums (1,955 soums) Premium Euro-95 petrol - 3,265 soums (3,225 soums) taken into account the imposed taxes.

In 2012, the tax rate from physical entities for the consumption of petrol, diesel fuel and gas for vehicles increased by 25 soums - up to 200 soums per liter of fuel.

The last increase in petrol prices in Uzbekistan was observed on August 1, 2011, when according to the government's decision, the prices were raised by an average of 10 percent.

The official exchange rate is 1.984.00 soums /$1 on Dec. 28.
