Plant for assembly of Cobra armored vehicles to be built in Kazakhstan

Construction of a plant for assembly of Turkish Cobra armored reconnaissance vehicles has been launched near Astana. The commander of the 36th Air Assault Brigade, Major General Almaz Dzhumakeev announced this at a press tour to the military unit N68665 today.

Construction of a plant for assembly of Turkish Cobra armored reconnaissance vehicles has been launched near Astana. The commander of the 36th Air Assault Brigade, Major General Almaz Dzhumakeev announced this at a press tour to the military unit N68665 today.

"Cobra armored vehicles were tested in Kazakhstan in 2011, and entered service in 2012. Last year, the Supreme Commander approved a project, providing for launch of engineering assembly plant jointly with Turkish facilities in 2014. Military equipment will be assembled in the units of the Armed forces of Kazakhstan starting 2014. Plant construction has already been launched at the base of our military unit, "Almaz Dzhumakeev said.

As for the amount of the armored cars planned for production, Dzhumakeev said it will be sufficient for the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.

Cobra armored vehicle is intended for crew transportation The vehicle seats seven people, has engine capacity of 6.5 liters, the maximum speed is 100 kilometers per hour. Cobra is able to carry out combat missions in all conditions of modern warfare. The main objective of the machine is holding special intelligence operations, participation in accompanying convoys, patrols on various types of roads and terrain. The vehicle is air-transportable and capable of overcoming water obstacles.
