Georgia, Tbilisi, March 28 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia /

Ten companies made tender bids to purchase the materials for constructing a 43km section of a main Georgian gas pipeline. The tender commission opened the packages of proposals on Monday and examined the prices, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation told Trend.

The proposals will be considered in the near future and after taking into account the mandatory criteria, the winner will be announced.

The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation announced a tender in February and 14 companies voiced their interest to take part. It is planned to purchase pipes to construct the 23 kilometre Zestafoni-Kutaisi section of the gas pipeline and to rehabilitate a critical segment of the 20 kilometre Gori-Karelian section within the tender.

The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation will start to implement the fourth phase of the Georgian Gas and Energy Infrastructure, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

In addition to the construction work, rebuilding will take place on particularly risky segments of the Gori-Kareli section within the fourth phase.

The Poti-Senaki gas pipeline was built as part of the Georgian Gas and Energy Infrastructure in 2010. At present, the 76 kilometre Kutaisi-Senaki section is being built. The planned sections will be constructed by this summer.
