Deposits of the population, drawn to the banking system from the Azerbaijani regions (areas of the country, except for Baku), as of the first quarter of 2013 amounted to 381.01 million manat or 6.88 percent of total volume of bank deposits, the Azerbaijani Central Bank's statistics report said today.
The volume of deposits on Baku amounted to 5.154.95 billion manat, while the deposits in national currency hit 2.978.39 billion manat. The average percent rate in the country during this period was 8.3 percent while 8.4 percent in Baku.
The amount of deposits on Absheron economic region amounted to 114.27 million manat, with an average rate of 9.3 percent, Aran - 109.04 million manat at 7.6 percent, the Mountain-Shirvan - 11.76 million manat at 6.6 percent, Ganja -Gazakh - 45.81 million manat at 4.8 percent, Guba-Khachmaz - 13.4 million manat at 6.3 percent, Lankaran - 32.93 million manat at 8.0 percent, Sheki-Zagatala - 18.85 million manat at 5.9 percent, the Upper Karabakh - 8.4 million manat at 4.7 percent, Kalbajar-Lachin - 5.23 million manat at 5.2 percent, Nakhchivan - 24.31 million manat at 3.4 percent.
There are 43 banks in Azerbaijan. Around 42 banks are members of the Azerbaijan Deposit Insurance Fund (ADIF).
