Azerbaijani banks lower interest rates on deposits

As of April 1, 2013, Azerbaijani banks reduced interest rates on deposits both in manat and in foreign currency, the published statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) says.

As of April 1, 2013, Azerbaijani banks reduced interest rates on deposits both in manat and in foreign currency, the published statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) says.

Thus, according to the CBA, the average rate on deposits in manat was 9.84 percent as of April 1, 2013, compared to 10.24 percent on April 1, 2012. The average rate on deposits in foreign currency amounted to 10.33 percent compared to 10.92 percent at the beginning of April 2012.

On 1 April 2013, the average rate on deposits of individuals in manat was 10.33 percent, while on April 1, 2012, it was 10.7 percent. The average rate on deposits from individual customers in foreign currencies amounted to 10.69 percent compared to 11.1 percent in early April 2012.
In the beginning of April 2013, the average rate on deposits of legal entities in manat was 6.09 percent compared to 6.17 percent on April 1, 2012. The average rate on deposits from corporate clients in foreign currency amounted to 4.62 percent compared to 6.13 percent as of April 2012.
