Turkey and Egypt have agreed with Iran's proposal to create an OPEC-style petrochemical forum, the Mehr News Agency quted Iranian deputy oil minister Abdolhossein Bayat as saying.

Negotiations will start in the near future to discuss mechanism for establishing the forum as well as preparing a charter for it, he added.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia can participate in the negotiations as well, Bayat said.

In November 2012, Bayat said that "The formation of the Petrochemical Exporting Countries Forum (PECF) will bring a new order to the market of petrochemical products and create coordination among exporters."

Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Russia, Qatar, and Turkey are potential members of PECF which will concentrate on financial and technological cooperation among members, as well as product pricing and policy making on production issues, he added.
