EBRD to provide credit for Shymkent-Tashkent road’s section reconstruction in Kazakhstan

On June 5, Majilis (lower chamber) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan provided legislative support to the agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for a loan for the reconstruction of 'Tashkent-Shymkent' road, press service of the Majilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported in a statement issued on Wednesday.

"The loan will be used to finance the reconstruction of a 62-kilometer road section of the first technical category with cement-concrete coverage and four-lane traffic," the statement says.

This section is located between 'Zhibek Zholy' border post on the state border with the Republic of Uzbekistan and the 742nd kilometer of Tashkent-Shymkent road.

The statement emphasizes that the implementation of this agreement will increase the average speed of traffic at the section and significantly improve its quality of the road, therefore, contributing to the growth of the safety level of on the roads of the country.
